Release Procedure

FlyMine releases a new version about once a month, usually closely following a FlyBase release. Below are the steps we follow when making a new release.

1. Download updated data
2. Build new database on build machine
3. Copy database to dev machine
   1. Release beta.flymine.org
   2. Data integrity check
      • AcceptanceTests
      • TemplateComparison
4. Copy the database to the production server
5. PrecomputedTables
6. Load GBrowse
7. Release!
   1. Copy newly created template queries (if any) to new website.
   2. Post the new data dumps to  http://www.flymine.org/download
      • These are the data used for FlyMine mirrors
      • It doesn't include precomputed tables
   3. Announcements
      • update blog with release notes
      • email mailing lists
